Soap and Glory
I was given such a long time to go away and write the album that I wanted to write, so it explores quite a lot of stuff.
Richard Fleeshman, AKA ‘The Fleesh’, shot to fame at the age of 13 playing Coronation Street’s Craig Harris. But it was his appearance and subsequent success on Soapstar Superstar that saw him realise his true dream of making an album. After some time away from the spotlight he’s back and about to release his debut album, Neon. Time for a catch up!

The first single from your new album is called ‘Coming Down’ – what cheers you up when you’re feeling down?
I suppose family and friends really. If I’m down I’m always on the phone to my mum or dad. I don’t get to go home much at the moment, but if I’m back in Manchester then I live at home with my parents. At the moment I live in London.

What sort of music can we expect from the album?
All sorts really. I was given such a long time to go away and write the album that I wanted to write, so it explores quite a lot of stuff. Just loads of different styles – there’s bluesy stuff, there’s rocky stuff – a real diversity on it really. I listen to so much music and I don’t try and cut myself off from any style. I wrote everything on the album myself and I think being open minded helps.
