One Night Only may look like just another indie band, but we have a feeling these lads are going to be absolutely huge- and they’re rather nice to look at too! Hailing from Yorkshire, the lads formed when singer George was just 12 (ahhh!) and last year saw them supporting the likes of Pigeon Detectives and playing alongside Kate Nash and Bloc Party! 2008 looks set to be even more hectic for George, Mark, Sam, Dan and Jack but before things get too crazy we managed to catch up with guitarist Mark for a quick grilling, MKP-style!
Where did you all meet?
We all met at school. We started learning our instruments and jamming songs at drummer Sam's house, next door to a famous abbey.
There are tons of indie bands out at the moment, so why should we choose One Night Only above the rest?
We don't really sound like any other current bands. We're influenced by a lot of 80's and 90's stuff, and write really big, strong tunes. As well as that, I think the album not only has some classic moments, it’s pretty accessible stuff that loads of people can get into.
What was the first record you bought and gig you went to?
The first album I bought was Oasis - What’s The Story Morning Glory. The first gig was probably Leeds festival but I can’t remember what year.
A lot of bands are really broke as they try and hit the big time. What’s the most skint you’ve ever been?
Probably when we all quit college and various part time jobs and stuff while we were concentrating on the band for a couple of months. I don't think any of us had any money at all - but we worked hard and it paid off in the end I suppose.
What were you all doing this time last year?
That was about when we'd all quit what we were doing to do the band full time. So we were probably sat in a studio, writing the songs for this album.
