Does Mariah even need an introduction? The most successful female recording artist like ever, with sales of over 160 million worldwide is back with her 11th studio album. This is the follow up to the massively successful Emancipation of Mimi which sold a whopping 10 million copies, earned her three Grammy awards and stayed on the chart for 18 months. Phew! So just how do you follow that up?

What’s It Like?
Fancy a dance? Good – because Mariah does too! Her albums are usually ballad-heavy but the dance tunes out number the slowies on E= MC² and we approve! Album opener, Migrate, sets the tone as we’re commanded to ‘bounce’ and it’s pretty hard to resist! Other highlights are the slinky single Touch My Body and the discotastic (and future single) I’m That Chick. There are a still a few ballads (I Stay In Love, Love Story, Bye Bye) but the biggest surprise is the brilliant Cruise Control where Mariah does reggae – complete with Jamaican accent. It sounds like it shouldn’t work but Mariah’s not taking herself too seriously and gets away with it. Blimey – it’s like Glitter never happened!
