On Ya Bike!
What are you waiting for - go hit pedals, burn rubber, ring little bells
Now we know how much you love wiling away the hours surfing mykindaplace, and we don’t blame you one bit (in fact we love it, it makes us feel special), but we recks that since summer is just around the corner, you should get off your bums and do something a bit energetic. Yep, you got it – we’re telling you to get outside, catch some sunny summer rays and get in shape. But fear not, we’re not abandoning you to the big bad outside world without some help, we’ve got just the thing to get you motivated – the NSPCC Big Bike Ride.

The NSPCC is currently looking for groups of mates to train up and organise their own sponsored Big Bike Ride. So we reckon you lot should sign up. It’s the perfect way to boost your health, tone up, and do something good for charidee. All the money you raise will go towards helping children across the country who are suffering from neglect, abuse and bullying. It’s well worthwhile and loads of fun too!

Oh and just in case you need any more incentives, here’s five more reasons to do it:

  • Bike riding gives you a natural high. The exercise will pump natural happy chemicals (known as endorphins) around the body. And it’s also proven to reduce mild depression and boost well-being.
  • Bike riding will help you max out your exercise quota. Young people need to do 60 minutes of moderate physical every day to keep themselves healthy.
  • Whether you go ‘hell for Lycra’ or dress up all girlie and go freewheeling through the park with girlfriends - every penny you raise will make a difference.
  • By doing the Big Bike Ride you’ll be raising money to help children in need. The cash you raise by pounding pedals will go towards NSPCC helplines such as ChildLine.
  • You could stick your fundraising for the NSPCC on your CV. Getting together your own fundraiser isn’t brain surgery but it does involve organisational skills and team work – stuff that a college or a future employer may be looking for!

So, what are you waiting for? Go hit pedals, burn rubber, ring little bells. To grab a fundraising pack of tips, merchandise and essential info on taking part in the NSPCC’s Big Bike Ride, visit: www.bigbikeride.co.uk or call 0845 130 3073.
