Girls as young as 14 are having plastic surgery to avoid being bullied at school, a surgeon has revealed. Douglas McGeorge told how he had reshaped the nose of one youngster and fitted breast implants for others. Mr McGeorge, who specialises in plastic and reconstructive surgery, claimed the bullying is so bad that some children and their parents felt there was no alternative.

Do you think children and young people should turn to plastic surgery to stop themselves being bullied about their bodies?

Are 14 year olds allowed to have plastic surgery :/
No i don't think they should turn to plastic surgery, it won't make bullying stop.

Definitely not, it implies that it's the victims that are in the wrong/need to change rather than the bullies. There's nothing wrong with not looking perfect; there IS something wrong with bullying, and that's the message we need to emphasise, not the other way around.

Definately not.
In my opinion not enough is being done about bulling.
It happens in schools everyday and I don't see much being done about it. I know bullying is hard to stop but something needs to be done about it.

Oh dear...
i'm off on one.
I have strong opinions on bullying.

We should have an mkp campaign against bullying lol.

I agree with Billowsweetie. It always seems like people are making excuses for the bullies and that the victims are the ones in the wrong. I've said on here before that I still remember comments that a boy made to me in Year 4 and I'm about to start Sixth Form. My friend had a lot of trouble last year, bad enough to get the police involved yet when it all started kicking off within school, the teachers were making excuses for the bullies. I can understand why people would want plastic surgery, everyone's thought about it but I don't think surgery should even be available at that age.

Thats stupid.

Personally, I dont think bullying is taken seriously because of some of the ridiculous things people class as bullying. This is probably the whole child care worker working in a school thing coming out in me again, but seriously when you have kids going to their mum "He took the last jam sandwich so I had to have honey" then the mum comes up to me and starts up with "Why is my child being bullied? Bla bla bla he is a bully because my kid likes jam" it really steps in the way of solving actual bullying.
Often at times im so swamped with ridiculous bully accusations that are just a load of crud that when something serious comes along I really with I could just pawn it off onto someone else.

Without giving away too much information, we had an issue a month or so back where two girls in our program were having a bit of an issue. Girl A was being taunted by Girl B constantly, in school, in our program, on the way to school, etc etc. Girl B made up a song about Girl A being fat and having a "fat vagina so fat that she cant have sex when she's older because theres so much fat in it" (by the way, there are 8yr olds, scary stuff) unknown to us until later on, during school girl B would steal Girl A's lunch and throw it on the roof because of her weight and as a result, girl A was scared to eat in our program.
Now, we found out about all of this and discided we were going to put an end to it. However, between talking to both sets of parents, the principal and the classroom teachers we had to deal with,
"My daughter was bullied today because X wouldnt give her the red texta"
"My son was bullied by X, Y and Z yesterday because the four of them were playing football and Y kicked the ball and it went over the fence and the ball belonged to my son"
"My son tells me that he wanted a cheese stick and your colleague wouldnt give it to him, this type of adult to child bullying is unacceptable" (even though the cheese stick in question came out of another child's lunchbox, we dont have cheese sticks)

Personally, I think in order for bullying to be tackled we need to wrap our heads around what bullying actually is. As much as I am sick of the kids in my care being bullied, im even more sick of idiot parents who think that a ball accidencatlly being kicked over a fence is bullying.

I think most teachers do an excellent job for coping with bullying, until youve had so many stupid, ridiculous accusations come your way you have no idea how difficult it is to deal with. That and if you dont see anything, whose word can you take? That brings me to another incident, I was watching the grade 1's play a game of cricket, another little boy ran and stodd right behind the batter, who was swining for the ball, he wasnt hit, but the bat came close to his face, the batter said "Sorry, I didnt know you were there" and the boy came running up to me crying and saying "X HIT ME WITH THE CRICKET BAT TWICE AND CALLED ME A STUPID, UGLY PIG" if I hadnt seen what actually happened I would have been on the poor batter's case.

Its really hard to tell what the real story is, and one legit complaint is usually accompanied by 10 bogus ones.
