in a cake? i'm making my mum a chocolate orange baked alaska thing, orange icecream and sorbet in the middle
and we don't have any whiskey, which is one of the ingredients, so i need to decide whether to use brandy or rum?

Sounds yummy :o) Either rum or brandy goes well with chocolate although I'd say probably rum is better with the orange

definately rum,
rum goes better with fruits, brandy goes better with sweet things such as chocolate.
