She’s posed for a series of images showing what she will look like aged 57 if she continues to use the artificial tanning devices and isn’t pleased with the results. “I used to use an awful lot of sunbeds. I'd go about three times a week. It was very much a part of the culture in Liverpool where I was a student. Having seen these images I am totally and utterly disgusted. I can honestly say I am never going to use a sunbed again,” she said.
The images were commissioned by Cancer Research UK for SunSmart - a UK-wide skin cancer prevention campaign, encouraging young people to think twice before they next get on a sunbed.
Will they make you think twice?

I have the dodgiest skin ever, I know all about the treatments available; that doesn't mean I'd go off and use regular sunbeds with no restraint or guidance from doctors .
Of course you need restraint etc but it is a highly effective treatment for Psoriasis, it helps my dad. Clearly I don't know the effects on eczema though.
Cannabis has many medical uses but I'm not gonna light up a reefer every time I'm feeling a bit poorly, ditto with sunbeds/my skin problems. Obviously if it's prescribed by a doctor it's a completely different matter, but it's dangerous to mess around with self prescription is what I'm saying. |

Posted - 24/08/2008 : 20:51:50 I don't go regularly, I've to go once every two weeks for about 3 months and it's been the only thing that has worked for me. I know my own skin and know what works and what doesn't. My doctor recommended 3 minutes every two weeks for 3 months and I've been going for 2 months and it's been great. |

Posted - 24/08/2008 : 20:25:47 ^Exactly. I have eczema too but only a bit, and my doctor said if it got any worse a sunbed might be a good short-term option to clear it up. Obviously using them for too long would just dry up your skin even more... |

If I didn't go at least once every 2 weeks now my skin would be an absolute state and I've just got it under control. So no, no thinking twice for me...at the moment.
What do you mean your skin would be a state? Whats wrong with it if you dont use the sunbeds?
I have eczema on my back and a bit on my legs from stress. The light clears it up and make it less painful and less scabby. and I have backne ;) clears that up too.
If you have skin problems then go to the doctor instead of using dangerous self treatment that could just make your skin worse. Jesus... |

Ummm...... the sun bed would just make your eczema even worse after a while. Try using a medicated eczema cream. And use Deep Heat cream for the back ache. |
