P.S. I Love You (12A)
The Pitch Holly Kennedy has it all; she’s beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life – the passionate and funny Gerry. But when Gerry suddenly dies, Holly’s world falls apart. She struggles to come to terms with her husband’s death until a series of letters he wrote before he died begin to arrive. Slowly, with her dead husband’s help, Holly begins to move on with her life and in the weeks and months that follow she embarks on a journey of rediscovery and new beginnings.
The Talent After starring in a number of films that didn’t exactly set the big screen alight, two-times Oscar winner Hilary Swank is hoping this will put more bums on seats. As Holly she’s believable, lovable and at times very, very funny – not something she gets to do very often after serious roles in the likes of Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry and The Black Dahlia. She’s joined by Gerard Butler as hubby Gerry, Friends star Lisa Kudrow as her best, errrm friend and veteran actress Kathy Bates as her mother.
The Verdict Touching and hilarious in equal parts, P.S. I Love You has all the ingredients of a great romantic comedy, and in our opinion is one of the best to hit the big screen in some time. The story of marriage, death, friendship and true love is perfect for a girly night out so grab your mates and get to your local cinema pronto! P.S. Don’t forget the tissues!
