The Pitch
The first episode picks up a couple of months after the gripping closing sequence of the first series when we saw know-it-all womaniser Tony get hit by a bus. We won’t be spoiling anything by saying he survives, but his long road to recovery after the accident is one of the most interesting aspects of series 2. Tony’s on-off relationship with Michelle looks all but over (as he can’t remember her!), Maxxie has a stalker, Chris drops out of school and Sid and Cassie are separated when her folks move to Scotland. Rest assured there are plenty of ups and downs for each of the much loved characters before the series ends.
The Talent
If you haven’t already fallen for Nicholas Hoult, Mike Bailey, Joseph Dempsie or Mitch Hewer then you definitely will this series. They’re each looking more grown up and displaying some pretty genius comic talents. Check out the female characters for all your summer fashion tips, especially Cassie (Hannah Murray) a.k.a. the Queen of Topshop!
The Verdict
For Skins fans this series won’t fail to disappoint. Although there are times where you may want to cry less and laugh more your enthusiasm for the characters and their problems will leave you pleading for more. The acting has improved, cameos and script evolved and zaniness factor unmatched (our favourite scene is where Tony and Sid drive around Bristol with a coffin strapped to the roof to the soundtrack of Britney’s Oops, I did it Again). However, as is the way with Skins, don’t expect everything to be neatly wrapped up at the end. Most of the prominent characters won’t be returning for the third series, but there are a lot of storylines left to the viewer’s imagination. Damn!
