Taken (15)

The Pitch
Seventeen year old Kim wants to travel around Europe with her friend Amanda, following her favourite band’s tour all summer. Knowing her dad - a former CIA agent - would never agree, she tells him they’re only going to Paris. On arriving they meet a young man and agree to share a taxi to their apartment, which signals the start of things going wrong. Whilst on the phone to her dad she realises their apartment has been broken in to, her friend Amanda has been kidnapped and she’s next. Using his CIA contacts her father finds out they’ve been taken by slavery kidnappers and he has just 96 hours to find them or they’ll never be seen again.

The Talent
Stepping out from the shadow of her role in Lost, Maggie Grace plays the terrified kidnapped daughter Kim. Her frantic father, Bryan, is played by serious Hollywood actor Liam Neeson – he’s famous for his roles in films like Schindler’s List and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

The Verdict
This is definitely one for action fans, although it is a little more sophisticated than a big old fight fest. Ultimately though, it’s a little lukewarm and predictable and probably one to wait for on DVD.
