The Pitch

Running in Heels is the latest reality TV show to focus on the glamorous world of fashion journalism. Based in the New York offices of glossy US magazine Marie Claire, the eight-part documentary-style show offers a glimpse of what it’s like to work in high fashion – fabulous celebrity photoshoots, confidential editorial meetings, glitzy parties, grueling schedules, never-ending deadlines ‘n’ all. With cameras following the Marie Claire team day-to-day, we’re given all-areas-access to all the mags’ staff, from the editor-in-chief to the three lowly interns.

The Talent

Unless you’re a real fashion boff, it’s unlikely you’ll have heard of any of the Running in Heels names yet, but rest assured, they’re the bizz when it comes to all things stylish, chic and on-trend! At the top of the Marie Claire tree is Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles (dubbed the ‘Simon Cowell of fashion’ because she’s one of the most influential figures in the industry) and the Fashion Director Nina Garcia (who’s also a judge on Project Runway). Whilst at the bottom there’s a trio of interns hoping to see their career and fashion fantasies fulfilled. There’s uber-confident Ashley, whose previous work experience stints have made her determined to shine; typical LA girl Talita, who, along with her pet Chihuahua Chanel, is making a move to the big city; and college girl Samantha, an ambitious wannabe writer who admits she knows little about fashion mags. Don’t be surprised to see some A-list faces popping up too – LiLo and supermodel Heidi Klum both put in appearances, as do designers Vera Wang and Roberto Cavalli.

The Verdict

As fashion-loving gals who are more than a little partial to a bit of reality TV, the MKP team already has its Sky+ boxes set  on series-mode for Running in Heels. Better than Stylista because it’s less competitive and more like real-life fashion journalism, we can’t wait for fashion mayhem to begin! A must for any future writers or fashionistas out there.
