The Pitch

The story begins just moments after the battle between Harry, Dumbledore and Voldemort  at the end of Order of the Phoenix. With confirmation the Dark Lord has returned, Voldemort's faithful subjects (known as Death Eaters) aren't afraid to let themselves be known by raising havoc across the land. Harry has also been recognized as the Chosen One - the one that must face Voldemort in an epic battle of magic. Harry is assigned by Dumbledore to befriend the school's new professor and get him to share a secret memory from his past and the is-he-or-isn't-he-evil Professor Snape finally reveals which team he's really playing for. Plus there’s more than just a bit of romance blossoming between the Hogwarts crew!

The Talent

It’s great to see all of our fave faces return to the big screen as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Bonnie Wright reprise their much loved roles. There are also a number of new stars including the late Robert Knox who shines as Marcus Belby.

The Verdict

If you’ve never been a Harry Potter fan (shame on you!) then you’re probably not going to be too exited about installment number six – but for the rest of us, whoopee! We’ve been waiting a whole two years but the Half Blood Prince has exceeded our (very high) expectations. While we can see our fave characters have grown (and become a whole lot cuter in Harry and Ron’s cases!), the mood of the story has also become a lot more sinister – this is the darkest HP film to date. It’s not all doom and gloom though, amid scenes of sheer wonder, there’s also a healthy dose of luurve in the air as our friends get to know each other a whole lot better. As well as being a lot of fun, the story also serves as a character building go-between for the two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – at this rate, November 2010 can’t come soon enough…!
