The Pitch

It’s 1920s Paris and courtesan Lea commits the cardinal sin – falling in love with and beginning a six year affair with her latest fling and son of her colleague, Cheri.  The pair’s romance is halted when Cheri’s mother, Madame Peloux, arranges a marriage between her young son and an acquaintance’s daughter. Cheri and Lea’s reaction is to feign indifference about their parting ways – but their true feelings are another matter.

The Talent

It’s lucky Michelle Pfeiffer who’s bagged the role of Lea – not only is she attired in a series of to-die-for period costumes, but she also gets to smooch the devilishly handsome Rupert Friend!

The Verdict

This sophisticated drama is lush and witty. We’re treated to a fest of beautiful threads and the even more beautiful Rupert Friend. Brill performances from all cast members ensure that we’re completely caught up in the relationship between this Romeo and Juliet style pair.  Funny, moving and oh-so-stylish – Cheri is a must see.
