We’re very sad to report that Jade Goody has lost her battle with cancer. The reality star died peacefully in her sleep early on Sunday morning, with her mum Jackiey, new hubby Jack and close family friend Kevin Adams, at her side.
A friend told The Sun newspaper, “It was very calm and very beautiful,” while her publicist Max Clifford said: “She died having been in a deep sleep for the past 24 hours. It’s ironic she died on Mother’s Day. She was such a good mum.”
Already hundreds of well-wishers have left flowers, cards, balloons and teddy bears outside her house, with messages such as: "You may not have known where East Anglia was but you knew the way to our hearts" and “the girl from Bermondsey did good".
Prime Minister Gordon Brown led the tributes saying: "I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Jade Goody's death. She was a courageous woman both in life and death and the whole country have admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer which will benefit thousands of women across the UK. " Comedian Stephen Fry said, "I warmed to her immensely. All impulsive spirit and smiles. What a life! I suppose she was a kind of Princess D from the wrong side of the tracks”.
Jade’s funeral is expected to take place over the next 10 days. Her body will be laid to rest in Epping Forest where she loved to spend time with her two sons Bobby and Freddie. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time. We’ll miss you Jade. Rest in peace.
