Dear Dr Petra
ok, my mum drinks about a bottle of wine a night. She's not an alcoholic, but it
worries me. It makes me angry when i see her with a glass of wine at 4.30pm. I
talked to my dad about it and he talked to mum. She stopped drinking as much
for about a week, but she is back to her old ways. When i said it makes me
angry, it makes me so angry i want to hit something. My friends have seen me
lash out before about other stuff, i think my mum has been the cause. My mum
can also be so annoying sometimes and i just lose my patience. My freinds often
joke about me needing anger management, sometimes i think they are being
serious. But i kinda think i really do! I want to get my anger sorted out
before i do anything i will regret. Do you have any ideas of what i could do to
calm myself down?

| Speak to your dad again and tell him how you feel. Also let a trusted tutor know at school or college so they can help offer you support and understand your situation (if you are in education). Or ask your doctor if they can refer you to someone for help. You can find out more from Alateen in confidence http://www.al-anon.alateen.org. |
